Welcome to the World of Philip James
Born in Liverpool, Philip James grew up surrounded by music. His father was a clarinettist who played in jazz bands, and some of Philip’s earliest memories are of live musicians, dance bands and legendary performers. One memorable childhood moment was watching renowned clarinettist Acker Bilk place his famous bowler hat on his father’s head.
Philip began learning piano at an early age and was taught by a piano teacher who would later go on to teach modern piano at the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). His passion for music led to performances as a keyboard player with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the development of a lifelong love of melody, arrangement, performance and the pursuit of writing “Music That Moves You”.
Today, Philip James is a singer, songwriter, musician, producer and live entertainer. Alongside his original music releases, cinematic videos and digital productions, he performs live shows and tribute entertainment, including popular Barry Manilow and Julio Iglesias tribute performances for hotels, clubs, holiday venues, restaurants and special events.
As an SAE-qualified Logic Pro engineer and programmer, Philip writes, records and produces much of his own work from his personal studio, allowing complete creative control from songwriting through to final production and video release.
Away from music, Philip has enjoyed a successful career in marketing, international business development and exporting. A multilingual communicator, he has worked as an accredited management consultant and was honoured at 10 Downing Street as a Business Hero in recognition of his contribution to the development, building and patenting of innovative computer systems.
